Enabling Disaster Preparedness with UAVs
The State Planning Commission had recommended the purchase and the use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) for the purpose of photogrammetric mapping. The UAVs would identify flood-prone areas. The captured images will be pre-processed, stitched and converted into maps to further understand situations of river courses to initiate disaster mitigation measures. This technology is currently assisting various departments like Police, Agriculture, Horticulture, Geology and Mining and TANGEDCO.
