Dengue, a significant global health concern transmitted by Aedes mosquitos, leads to Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) and Dengue Shock Syndrome causing substantial morbidity and mortality. This project establishes apex centres equipped with RT-PCR facilities to detect Dengue Viruses in Aedes mosquitoes. If the virus is detected, then follow-through activities like source reduction and fogging are initiated, aiming to eliminate the virus at the vector stage itself, for innovative prevention and control in humans – making Tamil Nadu the sole state in India with this approach.
